This is RAW image data directly from the camera head, it has greater dynamic range, more shadow detail below which would be black on most pro cams, and more highlight details -- more film like. To view a high dynamic range on a computer display results in a flatter image (just like a film scan.) Flat == good for color correction, Nice and contrasty mean great consumer camera with poor post-production opportunities.
